Egypt: Obama sees 'right signals' from military
Barack Obama has said he has seen "the right signals" in Egypt, where the military has taken power from ousted president Hosni Mubarak.
The US president cited meetings between the military council and opposition groups and the military's reaffirmation of Egypt's peace treaty with Israel.
Iranians should also be allowed to speak freely, he said, before describing as "ironic" the behaviour of the Iranian authorities that he said had celebrated events in Egypt, then sent security forces to beat and arrest protesters in Tehran.
