Syria: Thousands rally in support of President Assad
Thousands of people have been on the streets in Damascus in support of President Assad, who is expected to lift the state of emergency after nearly 50 years.
On Monday, Syrian forces reportedly fired tear gas at hundreds of protesters in the southern city of Deraa.
At least 61 people have died in 10 days of protests in Deraa, amid a wave of unrest that has shaken the president's regime.
