Syria unrest: Tanks firing at 'anything that moves'

The Syrian town of Jisr al-Shughour is reportedly largely deserted, as the arrival of the Syrian army prompted thousands to flee for the nearby Turkish border.

Syrian state media said units had moved into the town following the killing of 120 Syrian troops by "rampaging" groups last weekend.

A resident of the town told the BBC that overnight he saw 14 tanks in the town, firing at "anything that was moving in front of them".
