Activists claim almost 40 killed as Syria protests continue
Syrian activists are claiming that as many as 40 people have died, as protests continue against the Assad regime.
Some of the violence happened in Hama, Idlib and Deraa; areas that were due to be visited by official monitors from the Arab League.
The monitors are there to oversee a peace plan which calls for an end to the violence on both sides.
