Damascus hit by fatal explosions

Several police and civilians have been killed in two explosions in the Syrian capital Damascus, state TV has said, describing the blasts as "terrorist" attacks.

Preliminary reports suggested that vehicles packed with explosives had been detonated. Details of the reports cannot be independently verified as access to Syria for journalists is restricted.

The BBC's Lina Sinjab reports from Damascus.
