Syria conflict: Many dead in huge Damascus bombing

A powerful car bomb has exploded in the centre of the Syrian capital, Damascus, reportedly killing at least 30 people and wounding dozens more.

The blast happened at a security checkpoint near the headquarters of the ruling Baath party and also struck a residential area.
