Egypt official death toll passes 500

Egypt says over 500 people were killed on Wednesday when security forces stormed Islamist protest camps in Cairo after a stand-off lasting weeks.

In Egypt there has been a sharp rise in the official death toll from Wednesday's clashes between the security forces and supporters of the ousted Islamist president.

At least 525 people are now known to have died, and more than 3,000 have been injured.

On Thursday there was more violence as some demonstrators vowed to continue their fight.
