Syria UK doctor 'took his own life' - Faisal Mekdad
Syria's Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad said British doctor Abbas Khan committed suicide using his pyjamas to hang himself.
The 32-year-old orthopaedic surgeon from London travelled to the city of Aleppo last year to help civilians.
Dr Khan was arrested by Syrian security forces and detained close to Damascus - he was due to be released on Friday.
His death was announced by the Syrian government who said that Dr Khan had committed suicide while in custody.
