BBC reports from frontline outside besieged Iraqi town

There have been new appeals for help from civilians in a town in northern Iraq, which is under siege by militants from the extremist group Islamic State.

Eighteen-thousand people are trapped in the town of Amerli and are running short of food and water.

The BBC's Jim Muir reports from the nearby frontline.
