'Gunman shoot dead army general' in Egypt - reports
Security officials in Egypt say gunmen have shot dead an army general and wounded two soldiers outside a hotel in eastern Cairo.
Another soldier was killed in a separate incident.
The killings came amid high tension in the city on a day when the ultra-conservative, Salafi Muslim group has called for anti-government demonstrations.
In response, large numbers of security forces have been deployed on the streets of Cairo, Alexandria and other large cities.
Sally Nabil reports.
