US hostage Luke Somers dies after rescue bid
A UK-born American journalist held by al-Qaeda militants in Yemen has died after a failed military operation to rescue him, US media reports say.
Luke Somers, 33, was shot by his captors during the raid and later died, a US official told the New York Times. South African teacher Pierre Korkie was also reported to have been killed.
US President Barack Obama condemned Mr Somers's death as a "barbaric murder".
Security correspondent Frank Gardner reports from Bahrain.
