Syria conflict has 'deadliest year'

More than 76,000 people were killed in the Syrian conflict in 2014 - almost a quarter of them civilians, activists say.

The figures, from the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, suggest that 2014 was the deadliest year yet in Syria's four-year conflict.
