Bassem Youssef's guide to the Middle East

As Egypt protested against then-president Hosni Mubarak in 2011, Bassem Youssef did his part by making satirical YouTube videos about the regime.

Now just four years later, the former doctor is widely hailed as Egypt's Jon Stewart, in reference to the popular host of long-running US "fake news" programme The Daily Show.

The 41-year-old has even appeared on Stewart's show as its Senior Middle East Correspondent.

On a recent visit to London, BBC News asked Bassem Youssef for his unique take on the state of his country and the surrounding region.
