Afghan recruits have eight weeks to face the Taliban

In Afghanistan efforts are being stepped up to prepare Afghans to take full responsibility for their own security.

The first phase of the transition begins this year and NATO hopes it will be complete by 2014.

New Afghan army recruits are given just eight weeks to prepare before they face the Taliban.

The BBC's Daud Qarizadah has been to see them in training to assess their readiness.
