At least 50 dead in Himalayan quake

Heavy monsoon rains are hampering rescue teams trying to reach survivors of an earthquake in the eastern Himalayan mountains.

At least 50 people have been killed and many more injured after the quake hit on 18 September with a 6.9 magnitude.

The true number of casualties is not yet known as heavy rain and landslides have stopped rescuers from reaching remote areas in Nepal, Tibet and the Indian state of Sikkim.

Sanjoy Majumder reports.
