Gulf oil spill: Most of leaked oil 'dealt with'

Almost three quarters of the oil spilled into the Gulf of Mexico has been cleaned up or broken down by nature, the US government has said.

It signals the beginning of the end of the worst environmental disaster in US history.

The leak, which had been spewing oil into the Gulf for more than three months, was plugged last month, and engineers say they are also close to completing a relief well.
