President Barack Obama: 'It feels bad'

President Obama has admitted he needs to do a better job, as he responded to the heavy defeat suffered by Democrats in the mid-term elections.

The Democrats held on to the upper house - the Senate - but lost control the House of Representatives, after big gains by the Republicans who took 239 seats.

The Republican gain is the biggest shift of power in the Lower House for more than 60 years.
