Obama to meet Israeli PM Netanyahu

In a wide-ranging speech on the Middle East, President Obama has made his clearest statement yet of support for a Palestinian state, based on the 1967 borders with Israel.

He emphasised the importance of secure and recognised borders and said mutually-agreed land swaps would be needed.

But the Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is due to meet President Obama on Friday, said the 1967 border lines were indefensible.
