Hurricane Irene has made landfall and is causing flooding and damage as it makes its way up the east coast of the United States.
Residents in North Carolina have been told to leave their homes as the 500-mile wide storm begins to move northwards towards New York.
Reporter Caitlin Coyner says she has had to avoid flying debris in hurricane-hit North Carolina.
