Newt Gingrich vows to be a 'pay check president'

Republican presidential contender Newt Gingrich has said getting America back to work and economic prosperity will be the key battlegrounds in the 2012 US election race.

Speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), he said: "The number one theme of the Fall campaign will be a pay check president or food stamp president."

He said that there was a need for "really serious change" to US fiscal policy in order to build "the most dynamic economy on the planet".
