Twentieth anniversary of the Los Angeles riots
It is 20 years since the Los Angeles riots, which were triggered by the acquittal of four LA police officers over the beating of 26-year-old black man Rodney King.
Anger led to days of looting and burning, 54 deaths and $1bn (£610m) of damage to the city in 1992. A state of emergency was declared in south central Los Angeles.
In the wake of the riots the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) was forced to change. Janey Mitchell reports.
