Miami police discover 'goriest crime scene'

Miami police have been speaking about the crime scene where a naked man was found biting the face of another naked man, next to a busy highway.

Sergeant Javier Ortiz, vice president of the Miami Fraternal Order of Police, said it was "one of the most bloodiest and goriest scenes I've ever been to."

The police officer also backed his colleague who first arrived at the scene, adding that shooting the attacker was the only way to help the victim.

Rudy Eugene, 31, was discovered on Saturday biting into the face of homeless man Ronald Poppo, 65, and tearing it to pieces, along a Miami highway.

When police arrived, Eugene would not stop the attack and only growled at the officer, before he was shot dead.

Ronald Poppo remains in a critical condition.

It is not clear what led Rudy Eugene to attack his victim.
