More snow expected after severe storm hit the US

At least six people have been killed in snowstorms and blizzards and authorities have told people to stay at home rather than brave freezing temperatures and treacherous roads.

States of emergency have been declared in Mississippi and Alabama after bad weather downed power lines leaving more than 200,000 people without power.

The storm is expected to move towards New York state and Maine where more snow is expected in the next 24 hours, as Darren Bett from the weather centre explains.
