Missing US citizen Bob Levinson 'not CIA employee' - White House
The White House has denied reports by the Associated Press news agency that an American ex-FBI agent, believed to have been held in Iran for seven years, was working for the CIA on an unapproved mission.
Robert Levinson disappeared during a business trip to the Iranian island of Kish in March 2007. US government officials have repeatedly called on Iran to help locate him.
The CIA is reported to have paid Mr Levinson's family $2.5m (£1.5m) to avoid a public lawsuit, and also disciplined 10 veteran analysts.
Jonny Dymond reports from Washington.
