Costumed performers protest in New York's Times Square
Costumed street performers in New York have staged a protest against a proposed law which will mean licensing, background checks and other regulations for them.
City Council member Andy King wants to see the regulations brought in because he says there is no "real oversight" and there are concerns over public safety.
But performer Elizabeth Holland argues that Times Square, without the characters, would "disappear into something boring".
