UN's Ban Ki-moon dons purple tie and socks for Spirit Day
The UN secretary general showed off a purple tie and socks at a news briefing, highlighting support for the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender (LGBT) community.
Ban Ki-moon referred to "appalling discrimination" faced by young gay people, and said he was observing Spirit Day, a day of solidarity with the LGBT community.
