President Obama: 'Better future for Americans and Cubans'

US President Barack Obama says America will "cut loose the shackles of its past" and seek a better future for the people of Cuba and America.

He hailed a "new chapter" in US relations with Cuba, announcing moves to normalise diplomatic and economic ties.

In a statement on Wednesday, he said the US was looking to open an embassy in Havana.
