Police 'foiled Canada shooting plot' in Halifax

Police in Canada say they have foiled an alleged plot by at least two people to kill members of the public in Halifax in the east of the country.

A 23-year-old woman was arrested while a 19-year-old suspect shot himself when police surrounded his home.

A senior government official said the alleged plot had not been terror-related.

Brian Brennan, Nova Scotia Commanding Officer, said the pair had intended to ''open fire, kill citizens, and then themselves''.
