£250m telescope to study 'dark energy' in the Universe

Researchers in California have given details of a £250m ($400m) telescope they are building that will be trying to study a mysterious force in the Universe called "dark energy".

The force is accelerating the expansion of the Universe, driving galaxies ever further away from each other.

Two scientists from the Slac National Laboratory at Stanford University, explain how the telescope will be used to study dark energy.
