Zakir Hussain's Indian-Celtic fusion
It's no surprise that Zakir Hussain is a master of a percussion instrument called the tabla. His father, Alla Rakha, is legendary for playing it.
While talent runs in the family, Hussain's unique fusion of Indian classical music with unexpected influences sets him apart. His latest project blends traditional Celtic and Indian melodies.
We spoke to him in Washington DC for the US debut of his Celtic Connections tour.
