An ugly jug, valued at £35k, is actually teen project.

A grotesque jug valued as being worth up to £35,000 by an American antiques expert on TV, has turned out to be a school pupil's art project.

Stephen Fletcher, who is an expert antiques appraiser, told 5 live Drive the jug was a "little bit of a puzzle" but he thought it was "American folk art" and could be 100 years old.

He originally made the valuation on the US version of Antiques Roadshow. It was later revealed by a friend of the jug's creator - who had seen it on TV - that the vase was made by an Oregon teenager in the 1970s.
