Demonstrators protesting against police brutality have clashed with officers in cities across the US, recalling the racial turbulence of the 1960s, albeit on a less epic scale.

Another difference from the 1960s? The smartphone. Footage of fatal police shooting has gone viral, changing the conversation about how police operate in black communities.
