Birthday Honours: Charles Dunstone knighted
Charles Dunstone, founder and chairman of the Carphone Warehouse Group, has been knighted in the Queen's birthday honours list.
Carphone Warehouse, launched by Sir Charles in 1989, is Europe's biggest independent mobile phone retailer.
Dr William Haughey, chairman of City Refrigeration, and the Financial Services Authority's Brian Pomeroy are also knighted.
Tesco executive director Lucy Neville-Rolfe is made a dame.
Sir Charles has been chairman of Carphone Warehouse since January 2010 and was chief executive from 1989 to 2010.
A former non-executive director of Daily Mail and General Trust, he was appointed chairman of TalkTalk Telecom in 2010. He is also chairman of The Prince's Trust Trading Board. His knighthood is for services to the mobile communications industry and to charity.
Sir William Haughey's charitable giving is also recognised. Sir William set up City Refrigeration with his wife Susan in 1985 in Glasgow to service local licensed businesses. It now employs more than 10,000 people and has a turnover of £240m.
Anthony Nightingale, former managing director of Jardine Matheson in Hong Kong, is also knighted for services to British business interests in Asia.
Also recognised in the birthday honours list is Sir John Parker, who receives a Knight Grand Cross for services to industry and the voluntary sector. Sir John has held a number of directorships throughout at distinguished career and is currently chairman of mining giant Anglo American.
Joshua Berger, managing director of entertainment group Warner Brothers UK, is made a CBE.
In the fashion industry, Emma Hill, creative director of Mulberry, becomes a CBE, while Sarah Burton, the creative director of Alexander McQueen who designed Kate Middleton's royal wedding dress, an OBE.
Channel 4's chief operating officer Anne Bulford is made an OBE, as is entrepreneur Sahar Hashemi and Jason Kingsley, co-founder and chief executive of computer gaming group Rebellion.
Derek Lickorish, chair of the Fuel Poverty Advisory Group, becomes an MBE.
