Insurer Aviva is to cut its workforce by 200 at its Manchester call centre by transferring the posts to India.

The company revealed plans in April to cut 6% of its workforce worldwide over the next six months.

"We do not take these decisions lightly and we appreciate this will be a tough time for those people affected by today's announcement," said Aviva.

The job loss affects the bodily claims team at the firm's Albert Square office.
