Can energy-starved India work with US?

US Secretary of State John Kerry is to visit India - his first trip to the country since he took over from Hillary Clinton.

Issues ranging from nuclear and defence cooperation, to new immigration rules are expected to be on the agenda of the bilateral talks.

Political leaders from both countries are keen for closer strategic ties, but a number of hurdles need to be overcome first, as Shilpa Kannan explains.
