Surge in demand for cheap food in Europe

In many parts of Asia, particularly in developing nations, there's a lot of cheap food for sale on the streets.

So when times are tough, it's not as hard as it is in some developed countries to feed a family.

In Europe, though, a new age of austerity has had lasting effects on ordinary families and households.

As part of our series on Money in Your Pocket, the BBC's European business correspondent, Nigel Cassidy, reports from the UK and Portugal on the surge in demand for cheap and canned food.
