(Open): US shares mostly opened lower, retreating from record highs following a weak profits report from retailer RadioShack, down 13%.

The Dow Jones fell 10 points to 16,933.15, while the S&P 500 was 3.9 points lower at 1947.35. But the Nasdaq was 13 points ahead at 4,334.8.

Markets were also weakened by Botox maker Allergan's rebuff of a takeover bid by Valeant Pharmaceuticals.

On Monday, the Dow and S&P 500 hit another record closing high.

Struggling retailer Radio Shack said it lost $98.3m in the first quarter on sales that were 13.2% lower than the level a year ago.

The company cited "an industry-wide decline in consumer electronics and a soft mobility market".
