Russia looks to boost China ties amid Ukraine crisis

The continuing crisis between Russia and Ukraine means Moscow is increasingly looking at boosting its relations with China.

Last month, President Vladimir Putin signed a 30-year gas deal with Beijing.

With Russia's Gazprom and Ukraine continuing to negotiate over gas prices, and the European Union threatening sanctions over any supply cuts, will Russia seek even closer ties with China?

Nariman Behravesh, global chief economist at consultancy firm IHS, gives his opinion.
