(Open) Across Asia on Friday investors continued to bask in the reassurance from Wednesday's Fed statement that America's central bank was prepared to be patient over rate rises.

Japan's Nikkei kick-started the day by rising 1.68% or 290 points to 17,499.

The prospect of a central bank policy meeting in Tokyo, likely to confirm it will continue its large stimulus programme, gave additional cheer.

Hong Kong, and Australia joined Tokyo's early rally.

The Hang Seng Index opened up 1.27% or 288.97 points at 22,832.21.

And Australia's S&P/ASX200 index was 100 points higher at 5290.6 a rise of 1.94%.

But the Shanghai Composite slipped 0.1% to 3057.52.
