EastEnders has picked up six trophies at the Inside Soap awards, including best soap and a fifth successive best actress win for Lacey Turner.

Emmerdale actor Danny Miller won best actor and dramatic performance for playing gay mechanic Aaron Livesy in a hard-hitting coming out storyline.

Coronation Street scooped four prizes, including an award for the siege of knicker factory Underworld.

Neighbours was named the first winner of the new best daytime soap award.

One of the Australian serial's long-running stars, Ryan Moloney (Toadfish Rebecchi), won the inaugural best daytime star trophy.

Coronation Street's Craig Gazey, who plays Graeme Proctor, won funniest performance and said it was a "great honour" to accept the award a year after the late Maggie Jones (Blanche Hunt).

The actor added that he would keep his gong in the bathroom alongside a previous trophy for best newcomer.

The Manchester-based soap, which is preparing to mark its 50th anniversary, also picked up a second successive best young actor award for Alex Bain, who plays Ken Barlow's grandson, Simon.

This year's best newcomer award was bestowed upon Ricky Norwood, who plays Fatboy in EastEnders and was introduced through the soap's internet spin-off E20.
