New Order's beginnings as Joy Division

7 June 2011 Last updated at 10:52 BST

New Order originally found fame as Joy Division but after the death of lead singer, Ian Curtis, they renamed themselves and became pioneers of new music technology.

To celebrate more than 30 years of making music, they have released an album of greatest hits which for the first time includes tracks from both bands.

Bernard Sumner told BBC Breakfast the band started completely from scratch after Ian Curtis' death.
