Veteran musician Nic Jones has won folk singer of the year at the BBC Radio 2 folk awards 2013.

He was presented with the award at the ceremony in Glasgow on Wednesday evening by actress and musician Clare Grogan.

He was severely injured in a car accident several years ago, but in 2012 returned after painstaking rehabilitation to play a few gigs at music festivals, with his son Joe playing the guitar.

In his speech, Nic Jones thanked his wife Julia, who he described as "my ultimate nurse".
