White House Down: Americans overcome post 9/11 anxieties

27 June 2013 Last updated at 11:23 BST

A new action thriller White House Down arrives in American cinemas this week in which a paramilitary group takes over the White House and the US Capitol Building is blown to smithereens.

The mayhem wrought in Washington DC seems to show American audiences' willingness to embrace films that a few years ago would have preyed too heavily on their post 9/11 anxieties.

Talking Movies' Tom Brook reports.

Talking Movies is broadcast on BBC World News on Saturday at 13:30 GMT and Sunday at 00:30, 07:30 and 20:30 GMT.
