US rapper Nelly has spoken to the BBC about meeting kidnap victim Amanda Berry at a festival this week.

He invited Amanda up onto the stage and introduced her to the crowd, in what was her first ever public appearance.

Amanda was one of three women held captive for almost a decade in Ariel Castro's Cleveland house.

Nelly told BBC Radio 5 live's Up All Night, "I just wanted to show her that I appreciate her courage and let her know how inspiring she was."
