Jesse Owens medal sale sets new record

A gold medal won by Jesse Owens has sold at auction for almost $1.5m.

The transaction has set a new record for Olympic memorabilia sales.

The African-American athlete won four gold medals at the 1936 Games in Berlin, much to the anger of Adolf Hitler who wanted to use the Olympics to promote Nazi ideologies of racial supremacy
