Why is Danish drama Borgen so popular?

Danish actress and star of Borgen, Birgitte Hjort Sørensen, discusses why she thinks the British audiences are so enamoured with the show.

In Borgen, Birgitte plays a television reporter turned political spin doctor called Katrine Fonsmark. She stars alongside another strong female character, Birgitte Nyborg who in the first series became the first female Prime Minister of Denmark.

Hjort Sørensen spoke to Woman's Hour's Jenni Murray about why she thinks the series has garnered so much British attention.
