Eddie Izzard promises to resume Mandela marathon

16 December 2013 Last updated at 16:06 GMT

Eddie Izzard has promised to continue his attempt to run 27 marathons in 27 days in honour of Nelson Mandela's time in prison.

The comedian was forced to put the South African running challenge on hold after medical complications.

Mr Izzard told BBC Radio 5 live's Richard Bacon: "I'm going back. Nelson Mandela said, "don't just me by my successes, judge me by the number of times I failed and got back up again."

The 51-year-old added: "I'll just keep doing it until I win."
