A newly discovered album, first recorded by Johnny Cash 30 years ago, is to be released in March.

Out Amongst The Stars is the singer's fourth posthumous album since he died aged 71 in September 2003.

The musician's son, John Carter Cash, told the BBC's Rebecca Jones that his parents "hardly ever threw anything away".

He explained that the tapes were found in a storage vault two years ago.

Mr Carter Cash added that the album was "a work of art" that was being released "for the people".

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Tuesday 14 January 2014.
