Robert De Niro's Tribeca Film Festival opens in NY

17 April 2014 Last updated at 16:19 BST

Robert De Niro's Tribeca Film Festival, now in its 13th year, has got underway in New York.

It began essentially as an endeavour to revive the blighted Tribeca neighbourhood, which was devastated by the nearby 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center and has grown to become an international showcase.

But with a new multi-million dollar business partnership in place there are concerns the festival could lose its artistic focus.

Tom Brook reports.
