New documentary finds woman who talked to dolphins

17 June 2014 Last updated at 13:37 BST

50 years ago a young researcher spent months living alongside a dolphin called Peter as part of a ground breaking experiment to try to teach the animal to learn how to speak.

The interaction between the two of them was recorded on thousands of reel-to-reel tapes, and they now form part of a documentary by film maker Christopher Riley.

Riley talked to BBC Breakfast about The Girl Who Talked To Dolphins.

The Girl Who Talked To Dolphins, BBC Four, 9pm, 17 June.
